What is Ibum Supermax and how does it work?
Ibum Supermax contains ibuprofen – a substance from the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), with analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects.
When is Ibum Supermax used?
This drug is indicated for occasional, short-term use in adults for acute, moderate pain of various origins:
- headaches (including migraines),
- toothache,
- muscle and bone pain (including back pain),
- post-traumatic and post-operative pain, including pain related to dental procedures,
- neuralgia,
- painful menstruation.
The drug is also indicated for the symptomatic treatment of pain in joint diseases (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis), degenerative joint diseases (e.g. osteoarthritis) in adults. The drug is intended for use as a continuation of treatment in diagnosed patients.
Active substance: Ibuprofen
What does Ibum Supermax contain?
The active substance is ibuprofen. One soft capsule contains 600 mg of ibuprofen.
- Other ingredients (excipients) are: macrogol 400, potassium hydroxide 50%,
- capsule shell: gelatin, partially dehydrated liquid sorbitol, quinoline yellow (E 104), patent blue (E 131).
How to use Ibum Supermax?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The medicine is taken orally. The capsule should be swallowed whole with a glass of water.
Adults
The recommended dose is 600 mg of ibuprofen (1 capsule) once. If necessary, a single dose of 600 mg (1 capsule) can be repeated, maintaining an interval of 6 – 8 hours. The maximum daily dose, without consulting a doctor, should not exceed 1200 mg (2 capsules).
IBUM SUPERMAX should only be used if the patient does not feel any improvement after taking 400 mg of ibuprofen (maximum 1200 mg of ibuprofen per day). In this case, a dose of 600 mg of ibuprofen can be used taking into account the interval of 6-8 hours from taking the dose of 400 mg.
The lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest time necessary to relieve symptoms. This reduces the risk of side effects.
If symptoms of infection (such as fever and pain) persist or worsen, consult a doctor immediately (see section 2). If this medicine is required for longer than 3 days or if symptoms worsen, consult a doctor.
Elderly people
Do not use without consulting a doctor. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) should be used with caution, especially in elderly patients who are more prone to adverse reactions and are at risk of potentially fatal gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration and perforation.
Kidney or liver disorders
Do not use without consulting a doctor. There is no need to adjust the dose in patients with mild to moderate renal or hepatic impairment. However, in these patients it is recommended to use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time necessary to control symptoms.
When should Ibum Supermax not be used?
- if you are allergic to the active substance, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
- in patients who have experienced any allergy symptoms such as runny nose, hives or bronchial asthma during treatment with acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs),
- in patients with a history of perforation or bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, related to previous NSAID treatment, • if you have an active or recurrent stomach and/or duodenal ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding (a history of major bleeding, two or more separate episodes of proven ulceration or bleeding),
- if you have severe liver failure or severe kidney failure,
- if you have severe heart failure or coronary artery disease,
- in patients with hemorrhagic diathesis (bleeding tendency),
- in the last three months of pregnancy,
- if there is cerebrovascular bleeding or other active bleeding,
- if you are severely dehydrated (due to vomiting, diarrhea or insufficient fluid intake),
- under the age of 18.
