RAW MATERIAL:  heather flower (flos callunae)

It contains phenolic glycosides, mainly arbutin and methylarbutin, some essential oil, flavonoids, tannins, amino acids, organic acids (citric, fumaric), triterpenes (ursolic acid), bitter substances, mucus, minerals (cadmium, magnesium, manganese, iron), mineral salts with a large amount of silica.

ACTION

Heather flowers are characterized by a strong diuretic effect, which is activated in an alkaline environment (which is why during treatment with this raw material it is recommended to maintain a diet rich in dairy products, potatoes and lettuce). They have a detoxifying, slightly antiseptic and dehydrating effect. They have antiseptic and antibacterial properties.

APPLICATION

Heather is used internally and externally. Internally, it is recommended as a diuretic in inflammation of the urinary tract, bladder and ureters, in chronic urinary tract inflammation, inflammation of the renal pelvis and kidneys, and kidney stones. It is also used as an astringent in indigestion, diarrhea and inflammation of the digestive tract. It is recommended as a detoxifying agent in some metabolic disorders, in skin diseases, e.g. eczema, in difficult-to-heal wounds, in rheumatism, and as an aid in rheumatic diseases, liver diseases and insomnia. Externally, heather flowers are used to prepare therapeutic baths with antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and soothing effects resulting from skin infections, as well as eliminating muscle tension resulting from nervous pressure.
