Groprinosin Forte  is a medicinal product whose active substance is inosine pranobex. The drug is intended for supportive use in people over 1 year of age with reduced immunity, in recurrent upper respiratory tract infections and in the treatment of herpes of the lips and facial skin.

Indications

• Supportive for people with reduced immunity,
• For recurrent upper respiratory tract infections.
• For the treatment of cold sores on the lips and face caused by the herpes simplex virus.

Composition

• One sachet contains 1000 mg of inosine pranobex: a complex containing inosine and 2-hydroxypropyldimethylammonium 4-acetamidobenzoate in a molar ratio of 1:3.
• Excipient with known effect: one sachet (1800 mg) contains 0.68 mg of sucrose, 762 mg of isomalt (E 953).

Dosage

• The dose is determined based on the patient’s body weight and depends on the severity of the disease.
• The daily dose should be divided into equal single doses administered several times a day.
• The duration of treatment is usually 5 to 14 days.
• After the symptoms have subsided, treatment should be continued for another 1 to 2 days.
• The maximum dose is 4 g per day.

Adults, including the elderly:

50 mg/kg body weight per day, i.e. 3 to 4 sachets (usually 1 g, i.e. 1 sachet, administered 3 to 4 times daily).

Children over 1 year of age:

50 mg/kg body weight per day, administered in several divided doses.

Method of administration: Dissolve the contents of one sachet in 1/2 glass of lukewarm water, mix and drink.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients.
• Inosine pranobex should not be used in patients who are currently experiencing a gout attack or have increased levels of uric acid in the blood.
