Goji berries 100g
Goji berries grow on a shrub with the Latin name Lycium Barbarum (common wolfberry, scarlet wolfberry). The plant grows in China, Tibet and Mongolia.
Goji berries are a very delicate fruit, when they are fresh they should not be touched with hands, because an oxidation reaction will occur and the berry will turn black. When collected, they are shaken onto special mats.
Dried goji berries can be cooked. They are added to rice, soups, chicken and pork, mixed with vegetables. The fruit is also cooked as an herbal tea, often with the addition of chrysanthemum flowers or added to red tea. Wines are also made from wolfberries. In Western countries, dried wolfberries are eaten as a snack, similar to raisins or other dried fruits. They taste similar to cranberries with a hint of tomato and herbal flavor, but are less sweet and more tart.
