What is Famotidine Ranigast and how does it work?
Famotidine Ranigast contains famotidine, which belongs to a group of medicines called H2 receptor antagonists. It inhibits the secretion of hydrochloric acid in the stomach.
What are the indications for use of Famotidine Ranigast?
The indication for the use of the drug is short-term symptomatic treatment of stomach ailments not related to organic disease of the gastrointestinal tract, such as: indigestion (dyspepsia), heartburn, hyperacidity. The effect of the drug lasts for 10 to 12 hours.

What does Famotidine Ranigast contain?
The active substance is famotidine. Each tablet contains 20 mg of famotidine.
The other ingredients of the medicine are: Tablet core: pregelatinized starch, powdered cellulose, magnesium stearate, talc. Tablet coating: hypromellose, titanium dioxide, macrogol 6000, talc, cochineal red lake (E124).
How to use Famotidine Ranigast?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, contact your doctor or pharmacist again.
Adults
The usual dose for symptoms is 1 20 mg tablet daily. If symptoms return, you can take 1 20 mg tablet twice daily. The daily dose should not exceed 40 mg (2 tablets).
Swallow the tablet whole with a small amount of water.
Do not use this medicine for longer than 2 weeks without consulting your doctor. If your symptoms do not subside after 2 weeks of treatment, seek medical advice immediately.
Use in patients with kidney problems
Because the medicine is mainly excreted by the kidneys, caution should be exercised in patients with kidney problems. Patients with kidney problems should consult their doctor before using this medicine, as it may be necessary to reduce the dose by half or extend the period between doses to 36-48 hours.
The drug is contraindicated in patients with renal failure.
Use in elderly patients
There is no need to change the dosage in elderly patients.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
The safety and effectiveness of the drug in children have not yet been established. The drug should not be used in children and adolescents.
When should you not use Famotidine Ranigast?
- If you are allergic to famotidine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine;
