What is Allertec WZF 10 mg?
Allertec WZF is an antiallergic drug containing cetirizine, intended for oral use in children over 6 years of age.
Indications for use of Allertec WZF 10 mg
Allertec WZF is used in adults and children aged 6 years and over:
- to relieve symptoms concerning the nose and eyes associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis (such as nasal congestion, excessive watery nasal discharge, nasal itching, frequent sneezing, red eyes, watery eyes, itchy eyes);
- in relieving the symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria (long-term, severely itchy blisters on the skin).
Active substance: Cetirizine dihydrochloride
Composition
The active substance is cetirizine dihydrochloride. One coated tablet contains 10 mg of cetirizine dihydrochloride.
The other ingredients are: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, povidone K-25, magnesium stearate, sodium starch glycolate, colloidal anhydrous silica, sodium lauryl sulfate, hypromellose, macrogol 6000.
How to use Allertec WZF 10 mg?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The medicine can be taken before, during or after a meal. The tablets should be swallowed with a glass of water. The tablet can be divided into equal doses. The usual doses of the medicine are given below.
Children aged 6 to 12 years
5 mg (half a film-coated tablet) twice daily.
Adults and adolescents over 12 years
10 mg (1 film-coated tablet) once daily.
Patients with impaired renal function
The doctor determines the dose individually for children and adults, depending on the degree of renal impairment, age and body weight of the patient.
The usual doses for adults are given below:
- mild renal impairment – 10 mg (1 coated tablet) once daily.
- moderate renal impairment – 5 mg (half a coated tablet) once daily.
- severe renal impairment – 5 mg (half a coated tablet) every other day.
Do not use the drug in case of severe renal failure with creatinine clearance less than 10 ml/min.
Patients with hepatic impairment
No dosage adjustment is necessary.
Elderly patients
If your kidney function is normal, no dosage adjustment is necessary.
If you feel that the effect of Allertec WZF is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor.
When not to use Allertec WZF 10 mg?
- If you are allergic to cetirizine dihydrochloride, hydroxyzine or piperazine derivatives (substances with a similar structure to cetirizine, contained in other medicines), or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- If you have severe kidney disease (severe renal failure with creatinine clearance less than 10 ml/min).
