Indications for use:
Flavamed is used in lung and bronchial diseases that are associated with impaired production
and transport of mucus. Thanks to the use of Flavamed, thick mucus becomes more watery and
can be expectorated more easily.
Active substance: Ambroxol hydrochloride
Composition
- The active substance is ambroxol hydrochloride. 5 ml (one measuring spoon) contains 15 mg of ambroxol hydrochloride.
- Other ingredients are: sorbitol 70% non-crystallising, benzoic acid, glycerol 85%, hydroxyethylcellulose, raspberry flavour, purified water.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose is:
Children aged 1 to 2 years:
½ measuring spoon, i.e. 2.5 ml of syrup 2 times daily (equivalent to 15 mg of ambroxol hydrochloride daily).
Children aged 2 to 5 years:
½ measuring spoon, i.e. 2.5 ml of syrup 3 times a day (equivalent to 22.5 mg of ambroxol hydrochloride per day).
Children aged 6 to 12 years:
1 measuring spoon, i.e. 5 ml of syrup 2 to 3 times daily (equivalent to 30 to 45 mg of ambroxol hydrochloride daily).
Children from 12 years of age and adults:
2 measuring spoons, i.e. 5 ml of syrup 2 to 3 times daily (equivalent to 60 to 90 mg of ambroxol hydrochloride per day) for the first 2 to 3 days of treatment, then 2 measuring spoons, i.e. 5 ml of syrup 2 times daily (equivalent to 60 mg of ambroxol hydrochloride per day).
Note:
In adults, if necessary, the dose can be increased to 60 mg twice daily (equivalent to 120 mg ambroxol hydrochloride daily).
How to use
Flavamed syrup should be taken orally, after a meal using the enclosed measuring spoon.
Do not use Flavamed immediately before bedtime.
Period of use
Flavamed should not be used for longer than 4-5 days without consulting a doctor.
If after 4-5 days the symptoms do not subside or worsen, you should immediately consult a doctor!
If you feel that the effect of Flavamed is too strong or too weak, consult a doctor or pharmacist.
Taking a higher dose of Flavamed than recommended
No symptoms of severe poisoning have been observed. Transient anxiety and diarrhea may occur.
In the case of a significant overdose, increased salivation, nausea, vomiting and a drop in blood pressure with circulatory disorders may occur.
Contact a doctor. Immediate measures such as induction of vomiting and gastric lavage are usually not necessary; such measures may be considered in the case of a significant overdose. Treatment is recommended depending on the symptoms of the overdose.
If you miss a dose of Flavamed
If you miss a dose or take too little of the medicine, take the next prescribed dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

Contraindications
When not to use Flavamed
- if you are allergic to ambroxol hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
