What is Pseudoephedrine Espefa and how does it work?
Pseudoephedrine Espefa 60 mg is a medicine that contains pseudoephedrine hydrochloride as an active substance. Pseudoephedrine Espefa reduces congestion of the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract, especially the mucous membrane of the nose and paranasal sinuses, which leads to a reduction in swelling and the amount of secretion and nasal congestion.
Pseudoephedrine Espefa tablets are intended for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age . If after 3 days there is no improvement or the patient feels worse, contact your doctor.
Indications for use of Pseudoephedrine Espefa
Pseudoephedrine Espefa is used for the symptomatic treatment of rhinitis and paranasal sinusitis (runny nose, blocked nose) in the course of:
- colds,
- flu,
- allergic rhinitis.

Composition of Pseudoephedrine Espefa tablets
The active substance is pseudoephedrine hydrochloride. One coated tablet contains 60 mg of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride.
The other ingredients are: microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinized maize starch, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica and AquaPolish P red coating consisting of: hypromellose, hydroxypropylcellulose, macrogol, medium chain triglycerides, talc, titanium dioxide (E 171), Allura red lake (E 129), black iron oxide (E 172), red iron oxide (E 172).
Dosage and use of Pseudoephedrine Espefa tablets
- The drug is administered orally.
- Dosage in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: one film-coated tablet 3 to 4 times daily, in adolescents for a maximum of 4 days.

Contraindications to the use of Pseudoephedrine Espefa
- if you are allergic to pseudoephedrine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
- if you have severe high blood pressure or severe coronary artery disease,
- if you are taking or have taken in the last two weeks medicines from the group of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (medicines used, among others, for depression). Concomitant use of Pseudoephedrine Espefa with such medicines may sometimes lead to an increase in blood pressure or a hypertensive crisis,
- if you are taking furazolidone. The antibacterial furazolidone has a dose-dependent inhibitory effect on monoamine oxidase activity. Although there are no reports of hypertensive crisis caused by concomitant use of Pseudoephedrine Espefa and furazolidone, these drugs should not be used concomitantly.
